Borderlands Weapon Editor (v2)

Here’s version 2 of my weapon editor for Borderlands. It contains most of the weapon parts, allowing for easy weapon modification.  It is designed to be used in conjunction with JackQW’s modifications to Rick’s Save Editor. It is also compatible with WillowTree as of version 2!

-Adapted Copy List and Paste List for WillowTree support.

-Tweaked UI.

-Made weapon data content external (Data folder w/xml).

-Added condensing weapon textboxes.

-Added variable font sizes in weapon textboxes.

Instructions:

  1. Create your weapon by picking parts and clicking the plus buttons next to the combination boxes.
  2. Once you’re finished, click the “Copy as Weapon” button. (Or use the Copy List button if you’re a WillowTree user)
  3. Open up JackQW’s modified version of Rick’s Save Editor and open your save.
  4. Flip to the weapons tab and paste the weapon your just copied.
  5. Save your savefile (and be sure to make backups beforehand).
This is a project based on editing saves, so some of the data for weapon parts may be missing — Gearbox isn’t going to release a clearly defined list of all the weapon parts they used in the game because it wasn’t their intention for us to modify the weapons. If you happen to find any /weapon/ parts that are not found in the generator, feel free to drop a comment. However, I ask you to pastebin or zip up the parts instead of pasting them directly into the comment box. Excessively long multiline comments will be deleted.
Note: Weapons such as grenade launchers and unused alien guns may not have any functionality, however, I encourage you to find working combinations.

If this is not working for you, make sure that you have the  .NET Framework 3.5 installed, and if it still doesn’t work, 3.5 SP1 as well.

How you can help me:

  • Find weapon data missing from the editor and notify me (through blog comments).
  • Report bugs.
  • Request features.
  • Retrieve accurate weapon stats and notify me.
  • Reorder and/or rename the names of values in Weapons.xml to make them easier to understand, and notify me.
  • Don’t screw up the weapon data and redistribute it.

Update: uh, whoops, I left Torgue out of the materials. I’m a bit disappointed in you people for not finding it on your own. It’s included in v2.1, I’ve updated the link.

  • Hello:) i have two problems first of all i started up the weapon editor and it worked yay! i then entered the data into the save file. i started up my game and i found the gun no where. i then returned to the save to see if i was missing any fields, i was not perplexed i went back to the weapon editor to try again and found that it loads but none of the fields show up on the right i cannot access anything please help thank you.

    Input each line as it goes across but leave Action blank!

    It’s not that great but will try more combos

  • For some reason it didn’t post each line separately.

    Note there is a space in the first 2 lines.

  • For some reason, no matter what I generate, it doesn’t show up in game. I’ve tried everything, making sure all fields were filled in correctly, and still cannot get the weapon in game. It shows up in my the save game editor after I save it, but still isn’t in the game. The only exception is if I copy a weapon I already have in my inventory, field for field. Only then does it give me a duplicate of that weapon. So far, the generator has done nothing for me. Can anyone help me out? I’ve got 1.3.0 (and I’ve tried the “1.3 safe” weapons with the same result. Thanks!

  • Mel, you’re a dick. By the way, a lot of people have gotten modded items to work in- game. If you’re going to be a dick to someone who is asking for help, maybe you should just leave and not talk to anyone. FYI, that’s definitely NOT the way to make friends. You should be nice to people and try to help if they are asking for it.

    Anyways, TheKingpin, I have not gotten this to work yet either. When I get on tomorrow, I will keep trying. If I get any progress, I will inform you.

    P.S. I am not a forum moderator or anything. I’m just a 14 year old kid trying to make the world a better place. In other words, Mel, Go fu** yourself.

  • um, i followed a “weapon recipe” and it STILL didn’t work

  • Yes it is true that with V1.3 you can no longer create weapons from nothing. The game will remove such weapons because it has no base weapon to create it from. But you can still, using WillowTree, mod weapons that you can find in-game. Currently i have over 200 weapons in my inventory and half of them are modded. (the other half being the original weapons) But even with modding existing weapons the game does have guidelines. Certain weapon part combinations are not allowed, and the game will remove these weapons entirely upon uploading the save. If anyone wants any specific info on modding guns found in-game or would like to see or get copies of any of the guns i have modded, feel free to email me @ jtlgaur@gmail.com or just send me a friend request over XBox Live my GT is Romyac

  • Maybe just fix this like, a small label that said ” Will not work in game ” or something like that if it will not work…

    For my part, I made a Luncher with ~3090 dmg :)

    Don’t try to make a sniper rifle with the manufacturer Eridian XD it not possible…

  • umm im kinda new to hacking and i need some codes for the “mfg”, “subtype”, “grade”, “ammo”, “quality”, and “equip slot” fields. can you help?
